Billy Bigelow and Julie Jordan attended one in 1873, along with the whole village. Elvis had one in 1967. And in August, Dreadnought Wines and The Penn Avenue Fish Company will have one here in Pittsburgh!
On Wednesday, August 11, 2010, wine and seafood lovers are invited to explore the right wines to compliment many oceanic delights at a fun twist on the old fashioned “Clambake!” presented by The Penn Avenue Fish Company and Dreadnought Wines at Penn Avenue Fish Co. in the Strip District, beginning at 6:00 PM.
The New England Clam Bake is a traditional method of cooking foods, especially seafood such as lobster, mussels, crabs, steamers, and quahogs. The seafood is often supplemented by sausages, potatoes, onions, carrots, corn on the cob, etc. Clam bakes are usually held on festive occasions along the coast of New England. Since we’re not on the coast, we’ll be adapting our Clambake accordingly, but we’ll have no shortage of festiveness. Our Clambake will include clams, 1 ½ lbs of lobster, mussels, corn, shrimp and potatoes, all complimented by Dreadnought Wines, and with a few special fun surprises thrown in. (Sorry, but Elvis already left the building)
The Penn Avenue Fish Company is located at 2208 Penn Avenue in the Strip District and is open Monday-Saturday from 9:00am to 4:00pm, offering an exquisite selection of fresh fish and deliciously healthy lunches featuring grilled and roasted fish sandwiches, salads, homemade soups and sushi.
Dreadnought is a wine distributor in Pennsylvania, representing boutique wineries from around the world. Michael Gonze and Debra Mortillaro (an executive chef), co-owners of Dreadnought Wines and Palate Partners have been bringing wine and food pairing events to Pittsburgh for over 20 years.
To be a part of this very special evening of gourmet seafood and wine, pre-paid reservations of $110 per person (gratuity NOT included) are required by calling Dreadnought Wines at (412) 391-1709 or clicking the RSVP link below. Space is limited, so interested parties must RSVP by August 9th.
